Edgar Henson was born in Greer, SC. A graduate of Byrnes High School, Mr. Henson attended South Carolina State University and later received a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Level Education with a concentration in English Language Arts and Social Studies from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Mr. Henson later received a Master of Education in School Leadership and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Furman University, located in Greenville, SC. 

 

Mr. Henson began his teaching career in Spartanburg County School District Five, where he taught Seventh and Eighth grade Social Studies for three years and Seventh grade English Language Arts for three years.  Upon transitioning from the classroom to administration, Mr. Henson has expanded his leadership abilities through focusing on building meaningful relationships with the faculty, staff, students and parents.  As a member of the Instructional Leadership team, Mr. Henson oversees the Social Studies department in his current school. He constantly evaluates and updates instructional strategies for the department. Educationally, Mr. Henson believes that high level rigor, coupled with positive relationships equates to great outcomes for ALL students. 

Mr. Henson resides in Lyman, SC with his wife Tiffany, and their three children; Jon, Kenslie and Benjamin. In his spare time Mr. Henson loves being with his family and friends and serving his church.
