Daniel Bruce

Committed to Excellence

Mr. Woodrow "Daniel" Bruce was born and raised in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. He received a Bachelor's Degree in History from Wingate University, a Masters of Education in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. Mr. Bruce has over 16 years, exclusively with Greenville County Schools in the educational field. This includes being a para-educator, middle school social studies teacher, coach, athletic director, high school assistant principal, middle school principal, and a high school principal. Those experiences have given him insight in understanding the importance of building a positive school culture where being approachable and collaborative in decision-making is a cornerstone of his role as principal.

He served as principal of Greer Middle School for four years. During his time, Greer Middle had a significant increase in student enrollment since 2015, with the changing of the school's climate and culture was accomplished by a decreasing number of geo-coded students from attending other schools and increasing the number of special permissions to Greer Middle. Also, Greer Middle was recognized as one of the top three middle schools in Greenville County to significantly increase student achievement on South Carolina State assessments in English and Language Arts and Math, despite our 67% poverty index.

He currently serves as the Principal of Travelers Rest High School located in Travelers Rest, SC, with Greenville County Schools. Mr. Bruce is a proud product of the Travelers Rest community. His educational journey in Travelers Rest started in 1982 as a K-5 student at Travelers Rest Elementary and concluded in 1995 as a Travelers Rest High School graduate. He is forever indebted to the teachers, staff members, administrators, and coaches who played a significant role in his development as an educator and, more importantly, as a person. His goal is to serve and give back to his community and provide the current students and families with memorable experiences that they will cherish for a lifetime. Mr. Bruce's vision is for Travelers Rest High School to become a school that teachers gladly support, students respect, and where the community is proud of their child's school.

He resides in Travelers Rest, SC. He and his wife, Yazmin, have four wonderful children, Pamela (22), Nataly (19), Daniela (13), and Isabella (11).
